MMMOCL MD Devendra Kumar Sharma to speak at 2nd Transit Media Talks conference

D K Sharma will be sharing his perspectives on "How the Metro networks will creative compelling media investment opportunities"

Managing Director of Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL), ShriDevendra Kumar Sharma will be addressing the the 2nd Transit Media Talks conference on the theme of‘How the Metro networks will creative compelling media investment opportunities’. The Transit Media Talks conference will to be held on February 6, 2020 at Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Mumbai.

Devendra Kumar Sharma passed out B.Tech (Electrical) in 1980.  He joined Indian Railways in 1982 as an IRSEE officer and started his career as Assistant Workshop Manager (ELW), Bhusawal.  In a span of more than 37 years of distinguished service in Indian Railways from 1982 to 2019 he held various senior and important positions at different locations including Addl. DRM, DRM, Chief Electrical Engineer  and retired as General Manager (CR) in May 2019.  

Some of the important responsibilities Shri DK Sharma discharged with perfection were introduction of the Push-Pull system in operation of New Delhi-Mumbai CSMT Rajdhani Express and Mumbai CSMT - Pune Intercity Express, thus improving the speed of trains.  The much awaited work of Parel Suburban Terminus was completed, overcoming all the hurdles in his tenure.  Also, the long pending project of Nerul-Sewood/Belapur-Kharkopar-Uran has progressed well and 1st phase of this new corridor upto Kharkopar was completed under his able leadership in Indian Railways.  Besides, he held very important portfolios of IR at Field/Divisional and HQ level.  Shri Sharma has also been in charge of Operation & Maintenance of the busiest Suburban network of Mumbai carrying more than 8 million passengers every day.  He served Indian Railways as General Manager from November 2016 to May 2019 before superannuation.

Shri Sharma is now appointed as Managing Director of  Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) , Mumbai, a Public Sector Undertaking under Government of Maharashtra, with effect from August 9, 2019  to look after the operation andmaintenance of all Metro-Mono Corridors in the city and its Metropolitan Region.  The Corporation will look after the Train Operations and Station Management, Fare Collection, Customer Care, Security, Safety Management and Management of non-fare box revenue.  As far as maintenance is concerned, the responsibility will be to maintain Rolling Stock, Signalling andTelecommunication System, Platform Screen Doors, Traction and Power Supply, Track System, Environment Control and Air-conditioning System.

In addition to Navi-Mumbai Metro Lines of CIDCO,  Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority will be constructing a Metro Network of 14 lines having 337 km which is mandated to be operated by MMMOCL.
