Mumbai civic body gives nod to media owners to remove Covid19 displays

By Bhawana Anand - June 17, 2020

The Covid19 awareness campaign has been running for almost three months for free of cost

In the fourth virtual Bombay High Court hearing on the matter of OOH Media license fee waive off for the May month in the wake of complete lockdown, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has asked media owners to remove the displays on the awareness of Covid19. The corporation had mandated all the hoarding owners in Maharashtra to feature awareness campaigns on the outbreak off Covid19 for the duration 10 days, however, the awareness campaigns continued for almost three months for free of cost.

The hearing also touched upon the matter on the composition charges, which are applied on the non-payment of the license fee. On this, the counsel of MCGM said they would like to seek some more time to come to a final conclusion on the same.

The civic body has also filed their reply on the matter of license fee payment to the Bombay High Court, which hasn’t been disclosed yet. However, the next hearing has been scheduled for June 19 this year.

The OOH industry, which is already grappling with huge loss, is looking for some relief through this case. However, the continuing extension of the case adds to its demotivation.
