Apex Court restrains MCD from imposing fee on non-commercial publicity displays at fuel stations

By M4G Bureau - July 04, 2023

The court takes cognizance of the non-commercial aspect of the messaging displayed on the hoardings, signages, etc

The Supreme Court has reportedly restrained the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) from imposing advertising fee or taking coercive action against state oil companies that display non-commercial publicity displays on their respective fuel retailing premises.

The Times of India in its report on this matter states the oil companies had moved the apex court after the municipal body placed demand for fee on display of hoardings/logo/self-signages/branding at the fuel stations. The publicity displays were mainly on Prime Minister’s message on the Ujjwala scheme, switch BS-VI fuel, etc.
