DMRC metro check-in facility to make airport bound passengers’ travel convenient

The facility at present caters 400-500 passengers of Air India and Vistara every day

GMR-led Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) announced the enhancement of metro check-in facility for the passengers of three more airlines. Presently the service is available for the flyers of Air India and Vistara. The service has been extended by DIAL in collaboration with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) as part of its effort to provide enhanced experience to its domestic and international passengers. This facility would help many airport bound passengers who can check in at the station at their convenience. It takes just 19 minutes to reach airport from New Delhi metro station.  

The facility at present caters 400-500 passengers of Air India and Vistara every day. The enhancement of this facility is the outcome of sustained joint efforts by DIAL, DMRC, and respective airlines for smooth and comfortable journey of the flyers both at the Metro stations as well as the Airport.

The passengers of AirAsia, GoAir (international flights) and SpiceJet, flying out of Delhi Airport’s Terminal 3 (T3) can obtain their boarding passes at the Metro check-in counters, set up near the entrance of the New Delhi Metro Station.

The airport-bound passengers will be able to do Metro check-in for domestic and international flights from New Delhi Metro station two hours to 12 hours before the scheduled departure of their respective flights. The flight check-in facility at the metro station would close two hours prior to the departure time. The facility will also allow flyers to travel light to the airport by dropping their luggage at the check-in counters. The checked-in baggage will be transferred to Delhi Airport’s Terminal-3, through a secured Baggage Handling System (BHS). The highly sophisticated BHS ensures that baggage reaches airport in time.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has taken this measure in joint efforts for the convenience of the passengers on the Airport Express Line. Appreciating Airlines effort on the occasion, Dr. Mangu Singh, Managing Director, DMRC said: “The commencement of city check in facilities by three more airlines from the Airport Express Line corridor is a step in the right direction. Now, more passengers will be able to avail this facility from the New Delhi Metro station. This expansion of the city check in facility will immensely benefit the business travellers as well as the railway passengers who plan to reach the airport using the Airport Express Line. I congratulate SpiceJet, Go Air and Air Asia for associating with the Delhi Metro and hope that this shall pave the way for many more passenger-oriented projects in the days to come."

Speaking at the event launch, Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet, said: “With the opening of SpiceJet’s check-in facility at the New Delhi Metro Station, we have yet again shown our intent of giving utmost importance to the ease and convenience in the check-in process. The check-in facility will not just enhance comfort for those travelling from the vicinity of New Delhi Railway Station to Terminal 3 but will also reduce the travel time substantially for passengers de-boarding at the Railway station to catch their SpiceJet flight.”
