PHD Chamber urges Govt to step up spends on OOH

By M4G Bureau - March 12, 2021

Mukesh Gupta, Chairman, Media & Entertainment Committee, PHD Chamber has reached out to Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Information and Broadcasting in this regard

Referring to the release of Outdoor Publicity guidelines by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting for the Bureau of Outreach Communication, the PHD Chamber Chairman for Media & Entertainment Committee Mukesh Gupta has said: “This initiative has come as a real vaccine for the outdoor media sector which witnessed one of the worst periods during 2020 because of Corona.”

Mukesh Gupta added, “We have observed that the Central Government’s spending on OOH is very low in comparison to State Governments. It seems that the Government believes more in social media, whereas you can’t ignore the impact of OOH. No doubt, social media is effective but it reaches very few people, whereas OOH reaches every nook and corner of the country in a very effective manner. Lakhs of people, whose livelihood depends on this industry, are attached with this media”.

It is leant that the PHD Chamber has written a letter to Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, to increase Government spends on OOH media advertising that in turn will give more publicity to Government initiatives and provide more employment opportunities to people.
