By Bhawana Anand - November 13, 2020

The media owners confirmed that license fee hasn’t been submitted as rebate scheme is awaited

According to the media report, Bhubaneshwar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is expected to lose INR 10 crore of outdoor media revenue post lockdown induced by pandemic.  The loss has been caused due to the non-payment of the license fee by the contract holders.

As per the stats, the corporation earns 15% of revenue from outdoor contracts that comes close to INR 15-16 crores. however, this time, the corporation is looking ahead of about INR 8-10 crore rebate for agencies, shared Srimanta Mishra, Deputy Commissioner, BMC.  Also, the corporation is exploring means to manage funds in the wake of loses.

However, when Media4Growth approached the Bhubaneshwar based media owners, they stated that no relief has been announced yet. While the proposal has been submitted from a long time but the corporation hasn’t reverted on it despite of various follow ups.

The media owners have not paid any fee currently primarily because of ambiguity on the rebate scheme as well as grim business revenue over a course of time.
