The non-fare revenue opportunity will help Namma Metro to bridge its overall revenue shortfall to an extent

Advertising is set to make a comeback of sorts on the Namma Metro network in Bengaluru with the Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai acceding to the request to allow indoor advertising on LED screens, static display boards, escalator branding, etc. A report released in Deccan Herald states that the approval is expected to help Namma Metro gain ad revenues of about Rs 30 crore a year which will help the authorities to maintain the ticket prices at current levels.

The Urban Development Department of the state government earlier issued an order, basis the approval from the CM, stating that the indoor advertising on the Metro network would not contravene the provisions under the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike outdoor signage and public messaging bylaws.

Advertising will be permitted in the outdoor environment of Namma Metro property such as media on Metro pillars.
