BBMP submits draft of Advertisement Bylaws 2024 to HC for approval
In keeping with the recent directive by the Karnataka High Court that the proposed BBMP Advertisement Bylaws 2024, shall not be notified without its approval, the BBMP has submitted to the High Court, the draft of the BBMP Advertisement Bylaws 2024, approved by the State Government.
It has been reliably learnt the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has submitted to the High Court, the draft of the BBMP Advertisement Bylaws 2024, approved by the State Government. This follows the directive by the Karnataka High Court last month that the proposed BBMP Advertisement Bylaws 2024, shall not be notified without its approval.
As noted from the official documents that Media4Growth got access to, the Chief Commissioner of BBMP, Tushar Giri Nath, has submitted to the High Court a copy of the letter by the Urban Development Department of the Government of Karnataka, dated November 13, 2024, according approval to the BBMP Advertisement Bylaws 2024, along with the proposed policy draft for the court’s approval.
The Karnataka High Court had recently directed the State Government and the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) that the proposed BBMP Advertisement Bylaws, 2024, shall not be notified without its approval. The division bench, comprising Chief Justice N V Anjaria and Justice K V Aravind, had reportedly issued the order after being informed that the bylaws were currently under consideration, with objections submitted by stakeholders, including petitioners in public interest litigations and general public.
It may be recalled the Karnataka State Government had recently given its nod to the BBMP Advertisement Bylaws 2024. The new bylaws call for advertising firms to participate in auctions for winning media rights to specific areas of the city, whereby all such areas under the BBMP jurisdiction are specifically defined along with the maximum permissible advertising space and media dimensions.
