OOH Industry
With 20+ branded trains and 200+ screens, Gujarat Media Company charts a new course in OOH
Founded just three years ago by Sumit Goswami, Gujarat Media Company has swiftly grown into a major player in India’s transit media space, driven by integrity, partnerships, and a clear vision for ethical growth.
In just over three years, Gujarat Media Company has evolved from a fledgling startup to a significant force in India’s transit media space. Founded in September 2021 by industry expert Sumit Goswami, the company has carved out a niche in railway branding and digital display networks, achieving a turnover of Rs. 100 million and building a portfolio that includes 20+ branded trains, such as the Vande Bharat Express, and 200+ digital screens across Northern India.
The company’s presence spans major railway hubs including Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Station, CST Mumbai, Old Delhi, and Sarai Rohilla, and was recently strengthened with the branding tender win at Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi. This strategic expansion has positioned Gujarat Media Company as a fast-growing player in a competitive landscape.
A vision rooted in transparency and integrity
At the heart of Gujarat Media Company’s growth is a guiding vision shaped by Sumit’s philosophy of doing business with integrity. His mission revolves around three key pillars:
- Building a trusted and transparent identity within the advertising and media fraternity
- Creating a culture of positive intent, professionalism, and long-term relationships
- Scaling up with purpose, aiming to build a 200-member team dedicated to what Sumit proudly calls “saaf suthra kaam” — clean, ethical, high-quality work
This approach has helped the company not only expand its footprint but also build meaningful partnerships across the ecosystem.
A career in OOH that laid the foundation
Sumit brings over 18 years of OOH industry experience, having held senior roles at leading firms, including a 12-year tenure leading North India operations at Brandscope India, the OOH arm of Dentsu. His transition from employee to entrepreneur was driven by a desire to build something independently despite having no formal business background.
Starting off by trading media space, Sumit ventured into the unfamiliar terrain of government tenders. He credits his early success to the professional relationships built over the years, including those who are now competitors who helped him navigate the complexities of running a business. Sumit highlighted this and said “I didn’t know how to apply for an electric meter or fill a tender, but I learned a lot because of the good people around me.”
Looking ahead
Gujarat Media Company’s next chapter will be defined by further media acquisitions and its transition into a private limited entity. Sumit notes that the company’s growth is opening doors to new partnerships with experienced, like-minded professionals, with exciting announcements expected soon.
As the transit and railway media space continues to grow in scale and relevance, Gujarat Media Company is well on its way to becoming a defining player in the category, built on resilience, relationships, and a relentless commitment to doing things the right way.
