SDMC meets advertising revenue target of Rs 150 crore for 2018-19
Digital media tenders, revenue sharing from mall media and shop signage have helped raise the revenues from Rs 135 crore to Rs 150 crore
South Delhi Municipal Corporation’s (SDMC) objective of earning Rs 150 crore from outdoor advertising has been met with the civic body having managed to successfully reach the target for the financial year 2018-19, as shared by Prem Shankar Jha, DC, South & North MCD.
The civic body earned Rs 135 crore last year and has been able to accelerate the revenues with several new initiatives. “The tender in markets, revenue sharing from mall media and shop signage have contributed to the growth in revenues, turning out to be successful revenue generation models,” shared Jha.
The civic body has been pretty aggressive with its tenders through initiatives like LED, Public Utilities and many more in the last financial year. “Our vision has always been to make the city look beautiful, focusing on public convenience along with profitability of our vendors,” added Jha.
Sharing the target for the next year, Jha said, “We definitely would like to keep the momentum on and plan on achieving Rs 200 crore in revenues for the next financial year.”
Jha has already put a plan in place to achieve this target. “There are several initiatives to be taken which I believe will help us in boosting the advertising prospects as well as revenue numbers,” he said.Elaborating on the plans, Jha said LED boards will be allowed in different markets, which has already given a positive response in the first phase. He added that unipoles will be replaced with static LED boards while ensuring they adhere to safety rules. He also informed that there will be advertising opportunities in the new park being developed with installation of replicas of the Seven Wonders of the World and added that there are plans to get into revenue-sharing tie-ups with DTC, Delhi Tourism and DITDC.
