Srishti Communications bullish on media business prospects at the airport

With Lakshadweep grabbing news headlines in recent days following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the archipelago, the smallest Union Territory that is endowed with pristine white beaches is at the threshold of being significantly promoted as a tourist destination. Reports say that Google search for Lakshadweep has skyrocketed, which could also spur greater tourism in the islands.

In the midst of these developments, Agatti airport, the regional airport serving the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, could also see a spike in passenger traffic, which in turn augurs well for the airport advertising prospects there. Sharing his perspective on this, S Kumar, Managing Director of Srishti Communications which holds exclusive ad rights at the Agatti airport, tells Media4Growth that “the tourism potential of Lakshadweep is very high and we can expect to see a much greater number of people planning their vacation in the islands. The profile of tourists and other visitors arriving at the Agatti airport would be of key interest to a gamut of advertisers.”

Union Tourism Minister G Kishen Reddy has been quoted by media publications as saying: “no need to go to New Zealand or Switzerland” as Lakshadweep has high tourism potential.

While the airport has limited infrastructure and handles close to 4,000 passenger a month, the passenger traffic could increase much more as the air connectivity increases commensurate with rising tourist flows.
