Regular international flights ops resume, boost for commercial activities at airports

Regular international flight operations have finally resumed in India after a 2-year hiatus, that will have a positive cascading impact on all commercial activities and advertising at airports handling significant international air passenger traffic. Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has reportedly permitted some 60 airlines from 40 countries to operate 1,783 frequencies to/from India during the summer schedule. The summer schedule will be effective from March 27 till October 29.

DGCA has reportedly approved 1,466 international departures for six Indian airlines for the summer schedule. Various foreign airlines like Emirates, Virgin Atlantic, US-based carriers United Airlines and American Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa, and LOT Polish have also announced plans about their services to and from India.

Alongside, the Tourism Ministry has stated that visas will be give free to 5 lakh foreign tourists on a first-come-first-serve basis. All tourist visas were suspended on March 23, 2020 due to the pandemic outbreak.
