Indian digital display solution makers root for ‘Make in India’

Buyers are likely to bank more on India-make DOOH solutions in the face of disruptions in global supply chains
Just as the DOOH media business was gaining greater momentum in the Indian market, the Covid-19 pandemic halted the progress. As a result, digital solutions providers that were catering to the demand for DOOH hardware-software solutions took a business hit. However, those companies that are architecting and manufacturing the equipment, components and solutions in India are hopeful of riding the demand growth once the current crisis abates. In their view, China which has been a key source of digital display solutions for the Indian market, may no longer be so. Imports from China may become restrictive, and besides there are issues with respect to supply of spare parts from those manufacturing hubs.
Advocating a strong ‘Make in India’ approach, Sanket Rambhia, MD & CEO, Xtreme Media, told Media4Growth, said, “We are constantly innovating new products to suit the current requirements. But we expect the government to promote ‘Make in India’ in a big way and that will be a big plus for us. We are trying to bring most of the manufacturing technologies to India so that our industry’s dependency on other countries can reduce.”
Jyotsna Jawahar, Director, Osel Technology, added: “We are the only manufacturers of LED in India and right now we are focused on promoting our products on various channels. I believe buyers will avoid using products made in China. That is where Osel Tech stands out. Buyers are likely to prefer products manufactured by Indian companies. It is hoped that such a trend will set in.”
