In the highly competitive world of outdoor advertising, the path of success is to be focused on action and not dwell on the planning process. The 12th edition of Outdoor Advertising Convention started with a fired up note from the motivational talk by best-selling author and leadership coach Prakash Iyer, who asked the audience, comprising the outdoor industry fraternity, to build a reputation of doers and action-oriented team leaders.

Drawing from his own experiences in the corporate industry and stories of achievers from around the world, Iyer fuelled business leaders and start-up entrepreneurs to beat obstacles by focusing on own strengths, looking for right opportunities and not fearing failure. Making sure the audience had something to take away from the session, Iyer encouraged future leaders to build things that made a difference to every business. Passion - to be excited about any role one may have; hunger - to achieve whatever one wants to achieve; and, discipline - to not give up easily but do things even when the tide is against you. The IIM Ahmedabad alumni delivered some key leadership insights too, an important part of which was to respect people who make a business, i.e. people at the bottom, the ones who make a difference. "Leadership is not about me but about them,” said Iyer.

Tailoring his talk for everyone present, Iyer impressed upon the leaders to work as resilient teams and to be successful, follow some key principles. Some of these are to have a common vision for all team-mates, trust and an ambition which is perhaps greater than resources present. Iyer concluded his talk by asking the audience to create visions as team leaders, empower teams and especially those who are at the bottom. "Do not forget to enjoy the journey,” said Iyer in his turbo-charged speech.
