Railways non-fare revenue earnings in FY17-18 short of target
The key reason for the non-fare revenue shortfall may be attributed to the consolidated media packages failing to gain traction
Indian Railways earned Rs 8,600 crore as non-fare revenues in FY2017-18, which was way below the target of Rs 14,000 crore, as reported in a national business daily. The key reason for the revenue shortfall may be attributed to the media packages for different railway zones failing to gain traction.
As has been reported by Media4Growth earlier, the decision making on railway media rights is being once again decentralised. In 2016-17, the non-fare revenues for the railways added up to Rs 10,338 crore.
