Lucknow urban body issues notice to landlords to remove rooftop hoardings

By M4G Bureau - January 19, 2018

The landlords have been given 25 days’ time to remove the structures, failing which the LDA would do the same and recover the cost of removal from the landowners. Lucknow Development Authority has cited that the rooftop hoardings are a violation of the building norms

Even as media owners in Lucknow earned some respite from civic action after obtaining a stay from the High Court on the Lucknow Municipal Corporation’s mandate for removal of outdoor media in the city, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has swung into action to curb outdoor advertising. The urban body has sent out notices to owners of buildings that have rooftop hoardings for removal of the media. The landlords have been given 25 days’ time to remove the structures, failing which the LDA would do the same and recover the cost of removal from the landowners. LDA has cited that the rooftop hoardings are a violation of the building norms.

Some of the building owners have initiated removal of the structures, while some others are exploring the alternatives. Pradeep Sachdeva from Synergy Advertising told Media4Growth that the  any Developing Authority was not involved in any such action before and to deal with the matter the media owners in Lucknow are assessing the legal recourse to protect their business.
