Indian Railways is the world’s 4th largest rail network with 63,000 km rail tracks, serving about 22 million passengers a day. G V L Satyakumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai Division, Western Railway while making a joint presentation with Jagriti Singla, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Western Railway on the theme of how Western Railway is offering attractive media investment opportunities, cited that the Mumbai Division clocks the highest non-fare revenues among all rail divisions.

The division is expected to net revenues of Rs 80-85 crore from this source in the current fiscal. The Mumbai Division sees movement of 8 million passengers a day, a key reason for advertising to pick up in a big way there.

“We are trying to monetise every inch of our property,” said Jagriti, when talking about the advertising tenders that will be floated soon. “We are going to pass a tender soon for the largest LED screen in India, on the exterior wall of Churchgate Station, along with others for LED displays inside trains, vinyl wraps, etc.” she added.

Today, Western Railway offers a variety of media like hoardings, glowsigns and advertising boards among traditional formats, and LED displays and video walls as digital media. Western Railway also offers audio ads on its suburban trains.
