Mumbai civic body denies license fee waive off for private hoarding owners

In its document, MCGM clears that there is no provision under corporation resolution to exempt advertisement fee

For private hoardings too, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has denied the request submitted by a few media owners for license fee waive off in the wake of Covid19.

The media owners had made a presentation requesting to consider the lockdown period as non-operative (non-payable) tenure of license fee for the private properties. Along with it, they have asked for relaxation until lockdown is lifted completely.

However, both the pleas have been denied under the Corporation Resolution No. 999 dated December 11, 2009. The advertisement fee is required to be paid by the advertising agency as there is no provision to exempt such fee, says the official document obtained by Media4Growth.

The document also mentions about the presentation made by the Mumbai Hoardings Owners Association (MHOA) asking to exempt composition charges included in the licensee fee. This proposal has been submitted to the commissioner of the corporation. Following which, a standing committee has been formed to decide on exemption of composition charges for three months of complete lockdown, as per the document.
