Inbound tourism will be a growth lever for ad business

Airport expansion and launch of new airports are setting the stage for airport advertising business in India to take-off to new heights. Earlier, in November Terminal 2 of the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru was inaugurated, which will become operational in the near term, and contribute to manifold increase in airline operations connecting the city, and volume of passenger traffic, all of which will have a huge positive cascading impact on airport advertising business.

On December 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Mopa International Airport in Goa, named after late Manohar Parrikar, former Union Minister of Defence, and former Chief Minister of Goa, to further boost air connectivity in the country and push up inbound tourism. This is another big boost for airport advertising, considering that the passenger traffic at this airport will be of much interest to advertising categories like tourism, hospitality, financial services and others that would want to grab the attention of foreign and domestic tourists and high-flyers.

Reports say that airlines like Indigo and GoFirst have already announced plans to launch 168 and 42 flights respectively from the new airport from January 2023.

The Mopa airport, developed by the Government of Goa in the PPP mode, is located in the Northern part of Goa - about 35 km away from Panaji, the capital city of Goa.
