Kerala govt flags down plastic-coated fabric for outdoor ad displays

The Kerala state government has come out with a revised direction with regard to us of PVC flex media for outdoor publicity purposes. The state government has imposed a ban on the use of all plastic-coated material for outdoor campaign promotions. Some fabric with plastic coating were being used for advertising displays in the state but the government has now categorically notified that only cloth (plastic-free), paper (plastic-free) and polyethylene (PE) material may be used for outdoor advertising and publicity purposes.

Another mandate issued by the authority states that any display using such materials should bear a logo stating ‘recyclable, PVC-free’ along with details of the expiry date of the material, printing unit, and the contact number of the printing unit. Also, the printing unit would have to maintain a register recording the details of the customers. It will be the duty of the installing agency to remove the banners and hoardings erected in public spaces.
