Changing the sites-based bidding process to a clusters-based one under the new outdoor policy, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (including south, north and east zones), is soon to declare winners in response with the tender floated about a month back. Estimated at INR 14,11,344, nine clusters have been identified to be given away for a period of three years which is further extendable to another two years.

Mukesh Yadav, Director – Press & Publicity, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), explained, “Earlier, combining all three zones, we had some 80-90 sites and we used to float tenders according to sites. Under new scheme, we are awarding bidders according to these identified clusters simply because we wanted a fair business. These awardees will have a mix of both prominent and not-so-prominent sites and this is our way to make the trade equal. Also, with a lot of debates regarding legalities lately, the new scheme has been undertaken with a view of streamlining the business along with beatifying the city. MCD is already working on the received rates and the awardees will very soon be declared.
