Jaipur railway station to be part of RDN soon
As part of Indian Railways’ plan to bring 6 stations under the RDN, Jaipur station will be the next to join the digital network
As part of Indian Railways’ dynamic effort to push up non-fare revenue through outdoor advertising avenues, Jaipur railway station will soon be part of the Railway Digital Network (RDN). Taking the Digital India Movement forward, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Indian Railways is setting up only digital screens at the stations that feature railway information as well as commercial advertisements in 50:50 ratio.
RDN is already in place at the old Delhi Railway Station. IR will now include Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Gwalior under RDN in its first phase. IR has also recently disclosed its plan to bring 2,000 A-D category stations under its digital-only network, according to which, these stations, platforms and FOBs will have no static formats but only digital signages.
Ranjan Thakur, Director, Non-fare Revenue, Indian Railways, said, “These cloud-controlled screens will have the ability to run the same content at the same time in any part of the country, while as per requirement, these can be displayed in respective languages. These digital screens will run 50% content relating to railway information like arrivals, departures, platform berthing, seats availability, etc., while the balance 50% content will be relating to advertisements. Old Delhi Railway Station has already been a success and now Jaipur will have full-fledged digital network by the first week of February.”
