The activity was done as part of a promotion for the upcoming Red Bull Showrun event on 29th September.

Reigning F1 constructor champions, Red Bull Racing in partnership with Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), brought a taste of their speedy thrills to the Windy City of Chicago on 20th September as the RB18 car rode atop the city’s ‘L’ train.

The train took off from Howard station and arrived downtown at 10 a.m., where it began circling the Loop. Riders could still board the attached ‘L’ train and ride around the Loop with the car. Viewing areas were set up around the Loop, with locations at Madison and Michigan, LaSalle and Wacker, and Adams and Wells. At the Adams and Wabash “L” stop, F1 fans could view the car from the station’s overhead bridges, reported Elena Smentkowski of the Chicago Star.

The installation was done as part of the promotions for Chicago’s first Red Bull Showrun, that will be held on 29thSeptember at the United Center. The event will see former F1 driver Patrick Friesacher enthralling the crowds with donuts and burnouts in the RB7, which was not used as part of the promotions, but was the iconic car that helped Sebastian Vettel clinch his second F1 championship during the 2011 season.
