The state government has cancelled the Onam celebrations; the Onam season usually gives maximum business to OOH every year

The floods in Kerala have adversely affected the local OOH business. Heavy rains compounded by floods have damaged the outdoor advertising structures located in different places. Not just that. The state government has cancelled the Onam celebrations (the Onam season usually gives maximum business to OOH every year).

Explaining the severity of the situation, Jatinder Singh, Senior VP of TDI which handles the Cochin airport rights shared, “The damage is quite huge on the airport media. They are completely ruined by the continuous rain and water logging. In fact, the airport boundary has been damaged. The cost of the damage will be assessed once the rains stops.”

Brands like Raymond have no campaign plans for Onam this year.

As Singh added that the outdoor business will take at least half of month to come back on the rails. The Cochin airport will be operational only by August 26.

Several other media owners in Kerala when approached were caught up in evacuation and rescue activities.
