RMC challenges High Court decision on private hoarding tax rollback

The municipal corporation has filed the case a few days ago against which the media owning fraternity is preparing a PIL

Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has challenged the High Court decision with regard to tax on private sites. Recently, the regional media owners had approached the apex body to get relief on the steep increase in taxes on private sites imposed by the local corporation in Ranchi. And the notice issued by the high court to roll back the excessive tax has now been further challenged on the divisional bench by the authority.

The municipal corporation has filed the case a few days ago against which the media owning fraternity is preparing a PIL. The hearing on the matter is expected soon.

The industry finds private sites essential for their business as there is a huge uncertainty over the tendered media allotted by the corporation which are sometimes called off in between the tender due to advertising rules opacity.
