RDN is ushering in compelling advertising opportunities at the railway stations

K Manohar Raja, Executive Director of RailTel Corporation of India, in his address to the 2nd

Transit Media Talks conference held in Mumbai on February 6, highlighted the growing advertising opportunities that come about in the wake of railway infrastructure modernisation and introduction of state-of-the-art Railway Display Network (RDN) at the stations.

With nearly 8.5 billion passengers travelling by trains every year, railway stations are continuing to be major transit points in the country and that makes them compelling advertising destinations too. The RDN projects are proving to be key consumer engagement spaces as the passengers seek travel information from the display screens, where advertisements also run into a loop.

In the Q&A session, Manohar Raja stated that the RDN project will be executed across the country at the divisional level to begin with. A pan-India execution of RDN projects may not be feasible at this stage keeping in view the different levels of infrastructure available at the railway stations.
