The drive against media violating Pune Municipal Corporation’s norms started in 2018, but was halted due to shortage of manpower .
The drive was started in 2018 after a mishap occurred when a railway site collapsed costing the lives of pedestrians. The PMC drive had to be stopped due to shortage of manpower. Now however teams have been set up at 15 ward offices to take the drive forward again.
It is also learnt that the authority has plans to issue tender for the demolition work to private companies, while the work of identifying sites that flout norms have been allotted to the ward offices.
