PM Narendra Modi announces ‘Jan Andolan’ campaign for Covid19 appropriate behaviour

Outdoor media to play a key role in a two-month long communication


Amid of opening economy and aim to control the spread of COVID19 infection, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a plan to launch a ‘Jan Andolan’ campaign for Covid19 appropriate behaviour.

The campaign’s prime aim is to alert people and encourage them to participate in view of the upcoming festival and winter season. Hence, OOH media is said to be employed as a major tool of communication along with other mainline advertising platforms.

A two-month long multimedia campaign will be launched in 16 languages for effective communication and to target the masses. The institutions that are going to be involved in disseminating the messages include around 25,000 government dispensaries, 13.81 lakh anganwadi workers, godowns of Food Corporation of India, all paramilitary forces, 50,000 agricultural cooperatives, railway stations, government residential colonies, government offices, petrol pumps, gas agencies and government schools.

The key message of the campaign: ‘wear mask, follow physical distancing, maintain hand hygiene’.

Under the campaign, a Covid19 pledge will be taken by all and a concerted action plan will be implemented by centre and state/union territories authorities.
