The Greater Chennai Municipal Corporation has issued a notice against illegal outdoor advertising sites or structures in the city. The document obtained by Media4Growth reads that any person or party found erecting illegal hoardings or any building owner found to be allowing them to erect hoardings without due license from the civic body will attract a penalty under section 326A of the Chennai City

Municipal Act 1919. The penalty includes Rs. 10,000 fine or a jail term of 3 years or both depending upon the case.

As per the municipal corporation records, there are 108 licensed sites in the city and apart from them, the sites installed against orders will be pulled down by the civic authority whether it is a wall mounted or a digital board.

The corporation clearly states any site erected in the city must have a proper license number of hoarding, size of hoarding and the period of validity of the license.
