BBMP to confer with industry on draft ad policy

The civic body has sought the industry’s comments on a draft outdoor advertising policy; the media owners have apparently shared their perspectives on the draft policy, which will be discussed in the meeting on Aug 7

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is scheduled to hold a meeting with media owners in the city of Bengaluru on August 7, as per industry sources. The civic body has sought the industry’s comments on a draft outdoor advertising policy. The media owners have apparently shared their perspectives on the draft policy, which will be discussed in the meeting.

The meeting has been scheduled at a time when the High Court will hold a hearing session on a PIL on illegal hoardings in the city. The hearing session is scheduled on August 8. Two days earlier, BBMP took strong steps to pull down some 5,000 illegal displays on the streets, most of which were political flex boards, buntings and banners. A few hoardings were also removed.
