IDBI Federal’s’Street Store’ presents humane side of business
The Street Store, a CSR Initiative of IDBI Federal Life Insurance, provided a unique outdoor shopping experience to the lesser privileged section of society
Insurance major IDBI Federal Life Insurance unfurled a unique CSR initiative by creating an outdoor shopping experience for the lesser privileged people. The initiative, planned and executed by The Social Street, is an internationally practiced social activity that was initiated in India for the first time on such a large scale.
The Social Store was put up in the Sion Dharavi T- Junction area. Earlier, 50 donation boxes were place at various location including corporates, colleges, malls where people were encouraged to donate old clothes. Prior to the shopping experience day, a promotion drive was done at various slum areas across Mumbai to educate the people about The Street Store. Vans were hired to help the less privileged to come to the venue and enjoy this experience. The street was set like an actual store where 50 volunteers helped to pick right clothes and footwear.
Over 2,500 pieces of clothing and footwear were collected from all the donation boxes. The activity also attracted 15 more donors to contribute at the venue. Over 475 happy visitors from the lesser privileged benefitted out of this social drive. The activity was conducted in early March.
