Chinese Wisdom Media prospecting investment opportunities in India

Chinese Wisdom Media Co., Ltd, the largest outdoor media enterprise in Chongqing, China, is actively looking at investment opportunities in the Indian market. Peter Feng, CEO of Chinese Wisdom Media, in an exclusive interview with Media4Growth during his India visit, said the company would consider investing in small advertising firms that command good track record. Through such investments, the company would look to bring in more advertising brands into the Indian market.

Feng is cognizant of the different issues that underpin Indian OOH industry including that of unregulated media. He is of the firm belief that technology adoption will bring transformational change in OOH advertising. In China, the OOH industry is highly regulated and the digital media is comparable with the best in the developed markets, he added.

At the same time, Feng underlined the core strengths of the traditional formats. “Large brands like Apple or Alibaba are opting for traditional static OOH media to build their brand image. They are looking at gaining consumer attention with a plain and simple approach,” he said, adding, “Consumers are sometimes overloaded with content every day through various mediums.”

Community advertising is another key development in the Chinese markets.

Chinese Wisdom Media was established in July 2013. In 2014, the company introduced the China Cultural Industry Investment Fund and Hebei Hanmingda Information Industry Venture Capital Fund. Currently, Chinese Wisdom Media has 15 wholly-owned subsidiaries and two holding companies, with 735 employees, covering 153 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Changchun, Lanzhou, Huzhou, Changsha, Foshan, Fuzhou, Hainan Province. In September 2016, Chinese Wisdom Media was listed on the New OTC Market.
