DMRC turns a new leaf with Magenta Line
The Magenta Line provides commuters with Wi-Fi connectivity at all stations, charging points that are USB compatible, LCD screens, etc., that lend themselves to OOH branding opportunities
The new Magenta Line of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 25 in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has set new standards in Metro network facilities. The Magenta Line provides commuters with Wi-Fi connectivity at all stations, charging points that are USB compatible, LCD screens displaying videos, vibrant coloured seats, among other interesting features. Many of these facilities lend themselves to OOH branding opportunities as well.
The Magenta Line is being equipped with fully automated platform screen doors at every station. The Line will have 10 trains running on it, connecting 9 stations. Six of the nine new stations–Botanical Garden, Okhla Bird Sanctuary, Jamia Milia Islamia, Ishwar Nagar, Okhla NSIC and Kalkaji Mandir–have been decorated, reflecting themes of nature, Yoga, and cultural landmarks. At the new Kalkaji Mandir station, ceramic murals of Lotus Temple, ISKCON Temple and nature-themed artworks, and paintings showing birds have been displayed.
Notably, trains on this Line run driver-less, which is a first in the country.
