Leading telecom services provider Vodafone India rolled out an innovative OOH campaign in Kolkata to mark the World Environment Day on June 5. The campaign is directed at Vodafone customers, encouraging them to switch to receiving phone e-bills and thereby save paper, and in turn, trees.

Given that one tree is cut and used to make an estimated 3,000 sheets of paper, Vodafone sought to promote e-bills in order to save this precious resource. The campaign titled’Save Trees, Switch to E-Bill’ was executed by Balaji Ads. The campaign is up for a period of one month.

At one of the most prominent locations in South Kolkata – South City Mall, Vodafone created models of ZooZoo, the brand mascot. Commenting on the campaign, Anand Sahai, Business Head, Kolkata & Bengal, Vodafone India, said: “As a responsible corporate, Vodafone India is committed to such initiatives that protect our environment and benefit the community. Every set of 3,000 paper bills costs a tree, whereas an e-bill is environment-friendly and fast to deliver. People can access it from anywhere, anytime. At Vodafone we try to decrease the carbon generation level and work towards it.

He added: “We have also tied up with Growtees.com at the corporate level to plant 3,00,000 trees over at Pench in Kanha-Pench wildlife corridor, with this unique project, we will be able to offset the 33 million kg of carbon footprint generated by our offices every year for three years. In addition, we will be able to support livelihood opportunities, enable reforestation and facilitate habitat connectivity in tiger breeding areas.
