Canva gives Spain’s new students a royal welcome with ‘Welcome Princess’
As Princess Leonor, heir to the Spanish throne and eldest daughter of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, begins university, Canva turns the moment into a royal welcome for students across Spain.
With Princess Leonor starting university, Canva has found a playful way to turn the moment into a welcome for a whole new generation of students.
Under its ‘Welcome Princess’ campaign, Canva has brought its signature premium crown into the streets, transforming everyday OOH spaces into royal-themed welcome points for students. The crown becomes the visual link across billboards, buses, metro stations and university hotspots, creating a recognisable presence around the places where students are beginning their university journeys.
One of the standout executions is a fully transformed bus shelter, designed like a miniature royal carriage. The white structure is topped with an oversized golden crown, while the seating area features a throne-like centrepiece and Canva branding. The shelter carries the message “Bienvenida a la uni, Princesa”, giving the campaign a distinctly Spanish and celebratory character.
Rather than making the royal reference exclusive to Leonor, Canva uses the cultural moment to extend the greeting to every student beginning university. The result is an OOH campaign that takes a high-profile national moment and turns it into a playful, highly visible welcome for a much wider audience.
