Paddy Power takes a cheeky swipe at American football with giant OOH takeover

The campaign is executed with a 41-foot-tall special-build mural in Hackney, East London

Paddy Power has unveiled a bold out-of-home campaign that leaves little room for subtlety. Dominating a building façade with a giant pair of green foam fingers, the creative delivers a tongue-in-cheek message: “Nobody does football better than us.” 

Set against a backdrop resembling the American flag, the mural playfully reignites the long-running debate between football and American football. True to Paddy Power’s brand personality, the execution combines humour, cultural commentary, and provocation in a way designed to capture attention instantly. 

The creative relies on simplicity rather than complexity. A single oversized visual element, minimal copy, and strong national symbolism are enough to communicate the message. The giant foam fingers, commonly associated with sporting fandom, become the campaign’s hero asset, transforming a familiar object into a larger-than-life statement piece. 

Rather than promoting odds, offers, or specific sporting events, the campaign focuses on generating conversation. By tapping into cultural rivalry and national pride, Paddy Power turns a wall into a talking point, reinforcing the brand’s reputation for fearless and often mischievous outdoor advertising. 

The execution demonstrates how impactful OOH can be when a brand trusts a strong idea and allows scale, context, and creativity to do the heavy lifting. With one giant mural and a knowingly provocative line, Paddy Power once again proves that it understands the value of getting people talking long after they have passed the billboard.
