The ban has been enforced on ground-level media such as hoardings and pole kiosks

The Parbhani Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee has announced a comprehensive ban on outdoor advertising in the city of Parbhani with immediate effect. The ban has been enforced on ground-level media such as hoardings and pole kiosks. As informed by the regional media operators there, the ban is an outcome of political rivalry. Last year too the corporation had announced a ban on outdoor ad displays but rolled back the decision some time later due to the loss of ad revenues. Parbhani is one of the eight districts in the Marathawada region of Maharashtra, adjoining Andhra Pradesh.

The media operators have pointed out that the media that has been banned are all tendered and legal, with total display space of 50,000 sq.ft – 60,000 sq.ft. They are now looking to study the grounds on which OOH ban has been enforced in certain other markets, and plan for remedial measures accordingly.
