The draft plan is apparently pending approval of the Standing Committee

The Delhi Municipal Corporation, comprising all three civic bodies i.e. North Delhi Municipal Corporation, South Delhi Municipal Corporation and East Delhi Municipal Corporation, is expected to announce a rebate plan for outdoor advertisers in the next 15 days in lieu of the losses accrued in the face of the pandemic, a reliable source confirmed to Media4Growth.

Currently, the matter is pending approval with the Standing Committee. The proposed rebate on media license fee is learnt to be in line with proposals submitted by the media owners’ committee. The Standing Committee has apparently incorporated most of the suggestions given by the media owners. The rebate scheme will eventually require the approval of the legislative house.

As reported earlier, the three civic bodies have collectively incurred ad revenue losses of approx. Rs 100 crores including OOH ad revenue. It emerges that the total ad revenue losses could be even higher. “We are hopeful that this scheme will help us mitigate the losses in the coming times,” said the source.

The media owners’ fraternity has been proposing different models for paying the license fee as per a rebate plan, especially in the Unlock phase, considering that the business situation continues to be under stress despite the markets opening up.
