Hoardings printers’ body had asserted that the redefinition of hoardings by the local urban body was discriminatory
In 2018, the corporation had made the amendment whereby the sites erected on permitted property such as space and buildings have been called hoardings whereas banners placed on private properties were removed from that category. The association decried that move, calling it discriminatory, more so as hoardings are banned in the city.
It has been argued that the amendment was brought about to specifically deal with the issue of unauthorised hoardings. After hearing arguments, the first bench of Chief Justice AP Sahi and Justice Subramonium Prasad said they were reserving orders.
