The civic body has engaged the services of a private agency for the removal of unauthorised sites and is deploying a dedicated team to prevent any new illegal sites from being installed; new tenders for media will be floated only after the cityscape has been decluttered

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has hired the services of a private agency through an open tender for the removal of some 333 outdoor media units in the city that have been deemed as unauthorised by the authority. Most of those sites have been installed atop private buildings which are seen to be spoiling the city landscape.

In an exclusive conversation with Media4Growth, Adwait Kumar Singh, Additional Commissioner -- Advertisement, GHMC, said, “The ultimate aim is to make the city visually appealing by removing the clutter created by illegal structures and regulate the business with the available capacity of the city”. The corporation is taking strong steps to remove all unauthorised sites. Further, to prevent any unauthorised sites from coming up, a dedicated team is being deployed to monitor the city, said Singh.

After the completion of this task, the corporation is going to evaluate the future business prospects and plan tenders for various formats accordingly. However, this would be initiated only after the cityscape has been made decluttered.
