BBMP floats new tender for construction of street furniture

After a gap of many years, BRUHAT bengaluru MAHANAGARA PALIKE (BBMP) has called tender for construction of street furnitures in the city under 4 different packages on DBOOT basis. Major outdoor players such as Prakash Arts, Times OOH, Sign Post are participating in this tender.

BBMP in its serious effort to reform the street furniture scenario, intends to give a new face-look to the existing ones by replacing them with smart and hi-tech shelters. For this, it has invited bidders under 4 Packages with a total of 2000 + shelters with amenities like public toilets and information kiosk as utilities. The BBMP will give operation and publicity rights for 20 years to the successful concessionaire. The existing bus shelters in the city do not have enough space, Passenger Information System, display of routes, bus stand names and facilities. Considering this, BBMP has proposed several changes in addition to amenities, under which, the concessionaire has to offer sufficient public information system as additional amenity.

In order to bring policy matters into reality, BBMP for the first time has introduced a reservation for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe in the tender. Accordingly, package A is for reserved criteria.

While discussing on the tender, Srinath, Regional Head, Prakash Arts Karnataka confirmed the company’s participation and explained the different criteria to qualify in the technical bid. Evaluations are on the basis of design and development, technical experience in terms of operation and maintenance, etc. The technical evaluations will have more importance than the financial quote. The minimum price bid is Rs. 40,000 per shelter per annum. Bidder has to complete the project within 2 years.
