BMTC ushers in infotainment on buses; new window for advertising
While BMTC has taken this step to counter the competition posed by cab aggregators in the city with regard to getting a large share of the passenger traffic, the investment cost and operations of the infotainment systems will be met from advertising revenues
Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is reportedly introducing infotainment systems on a significant number of ‘Vayu Vajra’ buses that ferry passengers to and from the international airport to different parts of the city. The infotainment system will have on offer music, movie songs, news, comedy clips and entertainment programmes.
While BMTC has taken this step to counter the competition posed by cab aggregators in the city with regard to getting a large share of the passenger traffic, the investment cost and operations of the infotainment systems will be met from advertising revenues. While the system has been introduced on 10-15 buses as of now, plans are afoot to have it installed on some 250 buses in the coming months.
