SDMC says no let up on fee demand on mall media
The civic body maintains that the ‘Public View’ clause as per the Outdoor Advertising Policy 2017 will apply on this media
South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has taken a firm step to determine that all media displays at malls are meant for public viewing and consumption and hence the civic body should rightfully have a share of the revenues. In a conversation with Media4Growth, Prem Shankar Jha, Deputy Commissioner, SDMC, clearly stated that mall media is targeted for general public consumption, and not for private consumption of media owners or mall owners, and so the ‘Public View’ clause as per the Outdoor Advertising Policy 2017 will apply on that media. SDMC has reviewed this matter with their internal legal team thoroughly which will be presented at the next hearing of the court,” said Prem Shankar Jha.
As reported by Media4Growth earlier, digital media owning firm Skycom India has approached the high court challenging the SDMC demand for a revenue share on business generated on media located inside malls as well.
