DTC to put 1,000 new buses into service, boost bus branding opportunities
DTC sources have affirmed that the new buses will be open for branding and that a tender for bus branding will be floated once the buses are put into service. The typical branding opportunities would be exterior branding, grab handle branding, back portion of driver’s seat.
Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) plans to introduce some 1,000 semi low-floor or standard buses in the national capital region (NCR) in line with Government of Delhi NCT’s efforts to further augment the city’s public transport networks. DTC sources have affirmed that the new buses will be open for branding and that a tender for bus branding will be floated once the buses are put into service. The typical branding opportunities would be exterior branding, grab handle branding, back portion of driver’s seat.
According to government figures, the total revenues earned by the DTC cluster buses added up to Rs 283.63 crore in 2015-16 which included Rs 22.59 crore from other sources including bus branding. Brands like Uber — one of the highest spenders on bus branding, Total Quartz, LIC, Snickers and others have shown a certain preference for this media.
