Ignore technology at your own peril: Alok Jalan
Laqshya Media Group is planning to set up an in-house tech lab even as the top management takes strident steps to create a range of digital assets, more particularly in the controlled indoor environments.
“Technology will become increasingly important in everything that we do in the OOH space”. Stating this in a one-on-one conversation with Media4Growth, Alok Jalan, Managing Director of Laqshya Media Group, said that the group is planning to set up an in-house tech lab. Technology will greatly shape the Indian OOH industry’s growth trajectory.
On the media ownership side, Laqshya Media Group is planning to create a large number of digital assets in controlled environments. Jalan reckons that digital assets deliver best in environments like airports, malls, etc. In the outdoor there are challenges to be tackled like vandalism, other than regulatory barriers.
“Where there is a will there is way. One can learn by doing. We did not have prior experience of building air-conditioned bus shelters but we did that successfully in Dubai several years back. Likewise, we will push ahead with our digital asset development,” he said.
Jalan added that Laqshya Media is perhaps the only organisation of its kind in India that has the capability to design world-class street furniture assets. Looking ahead, Laqshya Media is looking at aggressively developing a range of street furniture, while also exploring new investment opportunities in the proposed 100 smart cities in the country.
