Cortina Productions signs up Ultraleap for touchless tech

The technology will allow future visitors at museums and exhibitions to control interactive content without touching public surfaces or buttons

Cortina Productions, an award-winning experience design company, has signed a deal with Ultraleap to bring touchless technology to interactive exhibits in museums and aquariums. The technology will allow future visitors to control interactive content without touching public surfaces or buttons, eliminating concerns about COVID-19 transmission.

Cortina Productions’ interactive installations can be found at the most respected and renowned museums and attractions across the United States, including the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the International Spy Museum, George Washington’s Mount Vernon, and the Aquarium of the Pacific.

With this deal, Cortina Productions will adapt and include Ultraleap’s hand tracking technology into their experience production design. This technology will allow Cortina Productions to create a variety of new, 3D interactive interfaces and displays for museums that will reduce the need for visitors to touch public surfaces. These interfaces can also work as a suitable, hygienic replacement to touchscreen displays. Cortina Productions will also seek to retrofit existing touchscreen-based experiences for museums where possible to help solve the immediate need for safe and more engaging experiences in a post-COVID-19 environment.

This is not the first collaboration for Cortina Productions and Ultraleap. In 2019, they worked together to bring hand tracking and mid-air haptic technology to the Aquarium of the Pacific's new Honda Pacific Visions theatre, the keystone project of their new Pacific Visions wing.

New or upgraded installations from Cortina Productions using Ultraleap technology will be deployed across the United States in the near future.
