Vijayawada, one of the big cities in Andhra Pradesh, has seen notable economic uptrend following the state’s bifurcation. Likewise, the Vijayawada Airport, where Prakash Arts holds exclusive media rights, has seen remarkable growth, recording nearly 20% passenger traffic growth in FY2017-18. In leveraging the business opportunities that stem from the airport passenger traffic growth, Prakash Arts has significantly upgraded the media assets there, by installing wall sites, hanging sites, scrollers, digital displays, among others.
The sites are deployed in high dwell areas such as boarding gates, conveyer belt, waiting area, self-check-in counters, etc. H V Surendranath, COO, Prakash Arts, told Media4Growth that Vijayawada as the second largest city of Andhra Pradesh is drawing domestic and foreign investments in diverse sectors including real estate and the business uptick is reflecting in more spends on advertising that includes spends on airport media.
Nearly 50% of the passengers travelling via Vijayawada Airport are understood to be headed for business engagements, while another 20% are tourists. The airport also handles a few international flights connecting Singapore.
