HC once again asks Karnataka Govt to expedite approval of ad bylaws
BBMP has asked for more time on implementation of process governing use of eco-friendly fabric
The Karnataka High Court has once again asked Karnataka Government to expedite the finalization of the draft document containing outdoor advertising bylaws that was submitted with the government by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for approval. It is learnt that the bye-laws are likely to be approved within the next 10 days.
As regards the use of eco-friendly fabric for outdoor advertising, BBMP has asked for more time to ensure the implementation of the same. Samples of material used for ad displays on PPP media assets have been forwarded to Karnataka State Pollution Control Board for examination but it might not be cost viable for all materials to be tested.
Regarding the perennial issue of unauthorised outdoor media surfacing on the roads, BBMP will depute a nodal officer to monitor and direct the removal of all such unauthorised hoardings/banners.
