Tamil Nadu is one of India’s major consumer markets with a highly developed industrial base. The state is a preferred destination for a significantly large number of retail brands, as well as manufacturing firms. Accelerated industrialisation, rapid employment generation and uptick in local businesses have spurred the growth of consumer markets within the city, creating new OOH advertising opportunities in Chennai and rest of Tamil Nadu.
In recent years, the OOH advertising industry in Chennai and other markets of Tamil Nadu have encountered various challenges in their effort to leverage the emerging business opportunities. While some of the challenges are associated with the local outdoor advertising regulatory norms, some others are linked with matters like effective use of planning tools, technology adoption, format innovation, etc., similar to the challenges faced by OOH players in other markets in the country.
On a higher plane, the OOH industry in Tamil Nadu also faces the challenge of projecting the regional market as a compelling destination for brand advertising. This would be achieved only through the combined effort of all regional players.
Keeping in view, the emerging OOH growth opportunities in Tamil Nadu, as well as the attendant challenges to the business, Team OAC is organising a focused ‘Tamil Nadu Talks OOH!’ conference, presented by Laqshya Media Group, in Chennai on May 8 with the express purpose of bringing all OOH stakeholders on a common platform to address the challenges and to build a roadmap for sustained OOH business growth in Chennai and rest of Tamil Nadu.
The 1-day conference will have six presentations by eminent business leaders and experts, and two panel discussions. The deliberations will cover both Chennai and all other key OOH markets in the state including Madurai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Salem, among others.
Tamil Nadu is an estimated Rs 100 crore+ OOH market. The big question is, how to increase the size of this market, such that the players are able to draw more national advertising brands into the OOH fold. Over 150 OOH media owning firms are operating in this market, along with a host of OOH agencies. While traditional formats comprise the bulk of media in use, the market is primed for media format innovations and use of tech-driven media. To create a business-enabling environment, it is also critical that the policy makers, such as, local bodies take a visionary approach to the industry.
Tamil Nadu Talks OOH! Conference is designed to catalyse OOH business growth in this key regional market.
