Cuttack Municipal Corporation set to take strict action against defaulting firms
The defaulting firms will be de-registered from the civic body and then civil action will be initiated against them.
The Cuttack Municipal Corporation plans to initiate strict action against outdoor media owning firms that have put up unauthorised media sites in the city and have not paid up taxes that are due to the civic body. The list of of companies that have defaulted on tax payment came up after the civic body introduced online registration of advertising agencies. Media owning firms operating in the city were asked to fill in complete information with regard to media sites including locations. The civic body is now tracking legal and unauthorised media put up in the city and once the verification is done, the authority plans to take strict action against the defaulters. The defaulting firms will be de-registered from the civic body and then civil action will be initiated against them.
Among the list of defaulters Selvel Advertising Agency’s name was listed. However, while talking exclusively to Media4Growth, Malay Chakraborty, Branch-In-Charge of Orissa Selvel Advertising Agency said, “The issue with the Cuttack Municipal Corporation has been sorted out. There will be no removal of sites and we will continue to operate from the city”.
